![]() (And because this was a RESFEST crowd, dozens of audience members quickly whipped out their cell phones, digital cameras, and camcorders to document the light display.) When the audience filed out of the screening in New York, which happened to be held on September 11th, a few blocks away from the venue were the towers of light commemorating 9/11, which seemed all the more poignant after the screening we’d attended. The Yes Men’s “The Horribly Stupid Stunt,” about their WTO impersonations at one particular conference, was entertaining and also provided an enticing preview to Dan Olman, Sarah Price, & Chris Smith‘s forthcoming feature film, “The Yes Men.” The program was laugh-out-loud funny, frightening, and ultimately enlightening. “Closer: The Fall of Baghdad” offered war images and a news ticker that revealed the true cost of the war. Filmmakers also found musical inspiration - having politicians seemingly lipsync to songs such as “Gay Bar” by Electric Six and soft rock classic “Endless Love” (a hilarious duet between Bush and Tony Blair). ![]() Many of these films used existing news footage of speeches and edited them to create new messages - “Bushwacked 2” turned a State of the Union speech into a platform for Bush to utter statements such as “We are building a culture to encourage international terrorism,” and “I have a message to the people of Iraq: Go home and die.” “Terror, Iraq, Weapons” edited Bush’s speeches into a frightening repetition of those three thoughts. One highlight in this year’s fest is the topical “Bushwacked!” program featuring politically motivated shorts, most starring George W. “There was a lot of clapping and cheering.” “As always, the audience was really great and emphatic,” he told indieWIRE. He was very pleased with the response in New York. These new commissioned films projects involved young filmmakers, much lower budgets, and the results are much more innovative.” Stefan Nadelman, who showed his award-winning short “Terminal Bar” at RESFEST 2002, came this year with his new project “One Step Ahead,” which is part of the Nike Art of Speed series. Unlike the BMW Films project which commissioned big budget short films from Hollywood directors, these new films are much more risky. Martens among many others all have new short film projects and they’ve chosen to launch them at RESFEST. “One trend that we’ve spotted is the explosive growth of commissioned short films,” Wells says. The festival may have lauded underground work, but it also showed plenty of commercially viable projects, and even held a commissioned films panel to discuss how digital artists are working with major corporations. ![]() But the audience was great - and RESFEST generally attracted a lot of people.” Also, one beauty of the festival is that his film will also get 32 more screenings, and Wishnow hopes to also attend the stops in San Francisco and Los Angeles. “It was the week after Labor Day, it was the week after the Republican National Convention, and it was the start of Fashion Week, so I think that bit into the crowd size a bit. Jason Wishnow, who offered the New York premiere of his short “Oedipus,” was happy with the audience response, and even the size despite some challenges. This year was particularly strong across the board for innovative filmmaking.” “In some cases that work is made with digital video tools, in other cases it is made on motion picture film, still cameras, crayons or - in the case of one music video this year - a flatbed scanner. “We’ve always shown work that has inspired us - made us laugh, cry, or just go, ‘Wow!,’ says festival director Jonathan Wells. Like the digital film biz, RESFST has itself evolved over the years. This international touring film festival (which will visit a record 33 cities from Austin to Osaka) is now in its eighth year, and while the digital realm becomes more mainstream, RESFEST continues to present selections that show the film and design world’s more innovative minds at work. Nowadays, nearly every film festival in the world will offer at least a few digital selections, but few truly revel in the medium the way that RESFEST does. The New York opening of RESFEST added a tent to serve as a lounge where audiences and filmmakers could gather. ![]() ![]() Did 9.0.30 - On Load failed to see the project video files completely.Installed quicktime 7.7, Cubase Pro 9.0.0 loaded existing project with video file. I’ve been a major fan of Cubase since VST and never had an issue like this. At this point I have Windows 10 and Cubase 9.5.0 only and it is still asking for it. Do you think there’s any way that might be the issue? No matter what I do I still get the same error the minute I do file>Import>video. The license looks active but I was wondering if it could be the fact that I have an upgrade and not the full product licenses. I have been buying upgrade licenses since 6.0. My last attempt this morning was to in stall 9.5 directly instead of all the previous Cubase versions first. I have done a complete windows re-install with Cubase 9.5 from scratch several times. I am really grasping at straws at this point. I am running windows 10 + Updates through. Is there a fix in the works anyone knows about?.Is there a known temporary workaround or am I stuck working with 9.0.0?.Why does Cubase 9.5 keep asking for quicktime when it is no longer supported?.Also, 9.0.0 plays them fine so right now I am running Quicktime 7.6 with 9.0.0. Quicktime in any version plays files just fine. It allows me to highlight a file but all of them show as unsupported file type. All I get is an initialization error and no file import. It looks like a programming code bomb out. I tried converting video test files to formats that Cubase is known to accept but the initialization error seems to happen before any import actually starts and appears to be shutting down all attempts at import. Special installer that supposedly allows quicktime to be installed on windows 10.Removing everything on the PC except Cubase and quicktime.Installing earlier versions of quicklime to make sure the QTTask.exe is running. The newest version I can get to work is 9.0 Anything after that just gives me a “quicktime cannot be initialized error”. I have reinstalled windows with updates and Cubase Pro versions 7 through 9.5. If you are a QuickTime 6 Pro user, see this article: before proceeding with this installation. No Matter what I do I cannot do a video file import. Installing QuickTime 7 or later will disable the QuickTime Pro functionality in prior versions of QuickTime, such as QuickTime 6. If installed on other versions of Windows, it may not offer full functionality. QuickTime 7 is for use with Windows Vista or Windows 7. If you still need this legacy plug-in, you can add it back using the custom setup option in the installer. The QuickTime web browser plug-in is no longer installed by default and is removed if you have a previous version of QuickTime on your PC. ![]() For information on the security content of this update, please visit this website. QuickTime 7.7.9 contains security updates and is recommended for all QuickTime 7 users on Windows. If you no longer need QuickTime 7 on your PC, follow the instructions for uninstalling QuickTime 7 for Windows. All current Windows web browsers support video without the need for browser plug-ins. New versions of Windows since 2009 have included support for the key media formats, such as H.264 and AAC, that QuickTime 7 enabled. Important: QuickTime 7 for Windows is no longer supported by Apple. ![]() New issue: The sprites are backwards, however it is not difficult to manipulate while parsing. Solution 3: Find a sprite sheet generator that simply stitches images together. ![]() New issue: The algorithm randomly places sprites and it is difficult to parse. New issue introduced: Photoshop is not sustainable, it takes too much time. Solution 1: Place sprites individually in Photoshop. The issue: exporting a sprite sheet from flash causes the sprites to have different values of ‘white space’ between them. It took 10 hours to get this character finished and we want to significantly cut that time down going forward. We want to make sure that the template is sustainable, so we can just change the symbols and not every frame of every animation. We had an issue with sprite sheets! The character template is now done, but each sprite is technically a different size. Turn off reduce bleeding if your tiles are mashing into each other. In this way the tiles can be placed in an isometric manner in an orthogonal setup (Since Unity does not support the isometric setup and causes major map issues).ģ) Make your desired map, export to. Unity and Orthello do not support isometrics as of Orthello v2.4c.Ģ) Before creating your map you should make 2 layers, 1 with an offset. If any other groups are ever wanting to use isometric tiles in Orthello this section will be very valuable to you.ġ) The first step is to export all tiles from TexturePacker and import them into the Tiled map editor, creating an orthogonal map (not an isometric). Finally, we wanted to be able to import special properties for the maps such as spawn points.Īfter a lot of work over the past few weeks I have worked with my teammates to come up with a solution to get TexturePacker to import isometric tiles into Unity/Orthello, which is not supported by default. Third, we wanted it to work with our Orthello 2D plugin. Second, we wanted the maps to be isometric tiles. First, we wanted an efficient and easy way to create the maps. Getting Isometric Maps Working With Tiled And Orthelloįor Gridlock we have needed a lot of custom properties for our maps. Getting cross platform support was by no means easy, but I am happy to say that our game now runs on Ouya, Windows, and Mac, and to top it off, the multiplayer is cross platform! The Ouya forums were also an awesome resource, and even as I was implementing Ouya support there were daily forum posts with answers from the Ouya devs that helped with the problems that I was having. Thankfully there were other people in the computer lab here at Rochester Institute of Technology working on the Ouya, and they had great insights on what might be wrong with our implementation. ![]() Implementing this class and actually getting it to work with our code proved to be difficult. The Ouya controller doesn’t support the native Unity InputManager, so the Ouya has their own OuyaInputManager class (as of this post). But because the Ouya isn’t even out yet, getting controller support and actually making the game playable was a challenge. Gridlock now runs on the Ouya! Unity is built to run cross-platform, so getting the game to run on the Ouya wasn’t so hard. |
